If you can’t get enough of grandma’s cookin’ then you are definitely going to want to check out this guy’s restaurant in New York.
Jody Scaravella opened a restaurant in Staten Island about ten years ago called Enoteca Maria. Instead of hiring a chef, he hired Italian GRANDMOTHERS to cook whatever they wanted. The idea was inspired by his late mother and grandmother. While seeking cooks, his ad catered to women who cooked recipes that were passed down through generation.
According to Scaravella, there are at least 2 grandmas in the kitchen daily. One is always Italian and the other’s heritage hails from elsewhere. The diverse tastes of the restaurant have been such a huge hit that tourists make reservations prior to even traveling to New York.
If you want food “just like grandma use to make” be sure to check out Enoteca Maria next time you’re in New York!
