Facebook: A Place For Cheaters?

Facebook just finished rolling out a new messenger feature that lets users encrypt their conversations to be completely secret. The feature is said to protect users from hackers and leaking their private information.

CNN Money Reports, Users can select “Secret Conversations” in their messages that ensure only the two involved in the conversation can see the messages. Facebook claims not even the social networking site itself or the government can have access to messages in secret mode.

“Messages will only be sent to whatever device used to start or first respond to the conversation. This means if you’re chatting in secret mode on a specific smartphone, you won’t see previous messages on your desktop.”

Facebook will also allow users to let specific messages from Secret Conversations expire after a few seconds all the way up to 24 hours, similar to Snapchat and WhatsApp.

According to CNN, the company promised safer communication and connection channels earlier this year, “We’ve heard from you that there are times when you want additional safeguards — perhaps when discussing private information like an illness or a health issue with trusted friends and family, or sending financial information to an accountant.”

Secret Conversations is their answer to that issue. Some, however, are calling the new feature a tool for cheaters:

Maybe if you’re wanting to send super private information over Facebook like your social security number or financial information (which I have no idea why you’d need to send it through there) it could be a good idea.

Lets be real here. You know there’s about to be so much more drama on your newsfeed because cheaters will be caught!
