History!! First US Commercial Flight Lands In Cuba Since Cuban Missile Crisis

CoCo Dominguez

As a Cuban-Mexican American, this really takes my breath away. It had been since the 1962 Cuban missile crisis since a US commercial flight had landed in Cuba, until this morning.

History was made today when Jetblue Airways Flight 387 left from Fort Lauderdale Hollywood international airport at 9:45 AM and an hour and 15 minutes later was with the beautiful people of Cuba in Santa Clara, Cuba. According to FOX 26 there will  be about 300 flights a week connecting excited Americans with an island that has been forbidden for so long.

My dad was Born in Cuba and I still have family there. He passed away when I was nine years old and I have never been able to meet my family that was still stuck in Cuba. My dad came over on a boat and used to carry the newspaper article clip of when he made the news for making it to Miami from Cuba🙂 true Cubano! lol I cannot wait to take both of my children and visit my family, hopefully soon.
