If you ever wondered how it would taste to eat the packaging of certain foods, well you’re in luck. The American Chemical Society announced this week that researchers at the U.S. Department of Agriculture are developing environmentally friendly food packaging made from milk protein. The new protein based packaging could replace the plastic film that is wrapped around block of cheese, packages of meats and others foods at the grocery store. The benefit of the new packaging is that; it is up to 500 times more effective than plastic at keeping oxygen away from food and is safer for the environment. It would keep your food fresher and you can eat it. Researchers say you could see this process happening within the next three years, so keep an eye on it.
