Money sharing sites are becoming more and more popular in allowing people to donate to a mission or business they want to support.
Several dollars are passed through sites each day but KPRC Local 2 broke down how much of your money actually goes towards the cause.
Apparently, a large amount of the money goes to fees and therefore not all of the money raised goes to the cause. For example,
“The four most popular crowdfunding websites all charge some type of fee for the service. If someone donates $100 to someone on GoFundMe, only $92 actually makes it to the person. The rest goes to fees.”
