It’s official: Canadian couple Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger are now husband and wife.
According to Us Weekly, the “Complicated” singer and the Nickelback frontman, said their “I do’s” in front of 50 guests at Chateau La Napoule in the South of France on Monday (July 1).
Kroeger popped the question last summer after only a six-month courtship, giving Lavigne a 14-carat diamond ring. The two worked together on her upcoming album and Avril even dished to Radio.com about the experience of working with her future hubby.
“I’ve just spent 17 days working with Chad Kroeger and David Hodges [formerly of Evanescence]. And the three of us have been writing a lot of songs together. A lot. And recording and having a really good time, having a really great time,” she said. “They’re very talented musicians and it feels good for me to be around people like that. Music is my life, it’s my world and to be back in the studio, it feels really good.”
“After writing ‘Here’s To Never Growing Up’ we recorded it pretty much right away and I came into the studio at about 11 p.m. to sing,” she said. “After singing it, it felt really good.”
Later Chad revealed to People that even though they worked closely together for months, the two didn’t actually start dating until July 1, a very special day for the two Canadians in more ways than one.
“We think it’s very cool that our anniversary will always be on Canada Day,” he said. “We can’t wait to start our life together.”
Now they finally can.
