I am the worst driver ever! So any time there is a study that talks about distractions or things not to do while driving, I have to read it. So when I came across this today, I had to give it a read. Maybe someday I will be off probation with my car insurance.
Having kids in your car is the biggest distraction. According to Australian researchers. They say that over a 16 minute car ride, people with kids in their car took their eyes off the road for an average of 3 minutes and 22 seconds! That’s about 21% of the time.
If you break it down, that means that kids are a12 times more distracting than talking on your phone. Babies are the biggest distraction. The average baby is 8 times more distracting than an adult passenger.
Here are some other distractions are: handing back food, taking wrappers after they eat, adjusting the DVD player, adjusting the mirror to glance at what the kids are doing ALL take longer to do than checking a text message.
