R&B soul crooner Marvin Gaye will have his story told within a fresh new light. Rocker Lenny Kravitz has reportedly signed up to play Gaye in a biopic titled “Midnight Love”.
The project is set to start filming next year and will chronicle Gaye’s time in Europe during the early 1980s while Gaye made attempts to curb addictions and breathe new life into his music career.
With previous attempts at Gaye biopics dissolving, reports indicate that the Kravitz biopic will forge ahead due to music rights being secured. The movie will be directed by Julien Temple, a video and documentary director. Kravitz who has sharpened his acting chops with previous roles starred in the in Lee Daniels’ movie Precious as well as The Hunger Games.
Marvin Gaye was shot by his father Marvin Gaye Sr. and died in Los Angeles on April 1, 1984.
