For hip-hop mixtape fans July is shaping up to be strikingly diverse month. It all kicked off Friday (July 9) when veteran rap mogul 50 Cent gave longtime fans a treat, dropping a 10-track album of new music entitled 5 (Murder By Numbers). But the free music didn’t stop there. 

The release, available for free on his website ThisIs50.com, is a street-laced appetizer of sorts for the Queens, New York rapper’s next official album Street King Immortal.

50 tweeted the news on Tuesday (July 3) that his official Interscope release would be put on hold with a new title, Street King Immortal. The rapper called the release an “appetizer” to Street King Immortal.

On the other end of the spectrum is Childish Gambino’s star-packed release Royalty. The buzz-heavy set features Gambino (a.k.a. NBC’s Community actor Donald Glover) trading lines with the likes of Wu-Tang Clan legends RZA and Ghostfah Killah, as well as Danny Brown, Schoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul. There are even appearances by alternative rock icon Beck (he produced two tracks on the album) and 30 Rock creator and star Tina Fey.

To add to the mix of 50 and Gambino, former Ruff Ryder and Swizz Beatz-affiliated MC Cassidy is offering free music. Featuring production from T-Dot, Spaid, Bubz Ramos and Butter Beatz, the Philadelphia spitter’s latest mixtape, Apply Pressure 3: Mayhem Music, is packed with 22 tracks. He has some high profile guests, including Jadakiss and 50 Cent.

Miami rhyme legend Trick Daddy makes his return with Dick and Dynamite, a 21-track Dirty South affair that features such talents as Atlanta trap king Young Jeezy, Kasino and Geechie.

The most surprising mixtape statement of the month belongs to Charles Hamilton. The former Internet rap darling has survived various personal and professional roadblocks, and at one point vowed to step away from the rap game. But Hamilton returns with the 11-track work Ill Doesn’t Meen Classic, featuring the biggest selling rapper of all-time Eminem, who handles co-production on the track “I Don’t Care.”
